Patchwork of the Crosses

Patchwork of the Crosses: Block 1

Patchwork of the Crosses: Block 1

Here is my board about Lucy Boston’s patchwork pattern, ‘Patchwork of the Crosses’. One of my current patchwork projects is making this block the non-traditional way, instead of EPP (English Paper Piecing) I’m using acrylic templates. I like the design stage of swapping the patches in the block to make so many different variations. The sewing is the easy part.

Tis with trepidation …..

Hi, my name is Robyn, a semi-retired teacher and a long-time eclectic blog follower. Thought I’d like to ‘jump the fence’ and have a go at personal blogging, to see what it’s like to be the ‘creator’ instead of the ‘consumer’. I hope to establish a core topic around my passion for patchwork and quilting, and use the blog to connect with others with similar interests.

Printed Patchwork Quotes

New Year’s Day was spent travelling around the ‘Victorian Goldfields’ area north of Ballarat with DH and DML. Of course it was ‘BOLO’ for any patchwork shops! Even though it was a public holiday – in the tourist town of Malden, the lovely shop The Village Patch was open, and what a delight it was! In the small entry way, hanging on the wall were two small quilts made up of little printed patchwork quotes. The simple on-point setting with a neutral fabric made a feature of the printed text. Perfect for a small quilted gift for a patchwork buddy!

Kris Kringle 2014

Tropical Garden

Tropical Garden

Each year, one working colleague and friend, is surprised at our Christmas lunch with a quilt as his/her Kris Kringle present. This year dear friend Marianne received this one. As she loves the warm tropics of Queensland for her holidays, the warm bright Kaffe Fassett fabrics were an obvious choice. This is a simple block that takes advantage of his large vibrant prints. Free motion quilting of 4 flower outlines, in diagonal rows, with waves in the dark blue border and sashing, completed the ‘Tropical Garden”.
